The
Challenge

Melbourne Water discovered that some of its silt basins contained asbestos fines in the silt residue as a result of asbestos pipes draining into them or a high proportion of asbestos roofs in the area with storm water runoff.

These fines are considered friable asbestos and the risk issues around this need to be managed during load out.

The
Solution

To effectively manage this project Korex teamed up with eduction (vacuum-suction trucks) specialists CSA Services.

Korex managed the Class A ticketing of their team so that our team, with our project supervision, management system and asbestos risk knowledge, together with their highly skilled machine operators, were able to jointly undertake the safe excavation and load out of many of these silt basins and culverts across Melbourne.

The
Outcome

Korex managed the safe, cost effective and efficient removal of asbestos in sensitive urban areas and publicly accessible places.
